The Rationale
Let's look at some facts...
What do these facts tell us?
8 out of 14
individual Olympic medalists from India are from rural background.
(data of only individual sports, post-independance games till year 2016 )
13 out of 23
Commonwealth GOLD medalists from India for the year 2018 are from rural background.
(Only individual sports)
Sports-icons like sprinters P.T. Usha, Hima Das and Dutee Chand are all from rural or tribal backgrounds, breaking barriers to reach a place of global respect and nation-wide idolisation!
THE OPPORTUNITY
Athletes from rural and tribal backgrounds perform better than urban counterparts, despite lacking equal exposure, early training, mentoring and even nutrition.
Building upon this evidence, ADOPT intends to supplement the genetic edge that rural and tribal athletes have; with a holistic training and support system for an even better outcome on international sporting platforms.
Sports is a nation-building tool, driving values of social and gender equity at a community level and ADOPT is using it as a great tool of community mobilisation!
Sports is critical driver of change at an individual level and ADOPT works on forging values like sportsman spirit, tolerance, work ethics, conduct-reform and promoting dignity in disability.
HOW DO WE DO IT?
The Zero-compromise system
ADOPT's zero compromise system is a holistic support system given to the potential athlete to reduce the error margin between him and the medal. By filling the gaps of training, nutrition, kitting, medical intervention and psychology, we are giving rural and tribal athlete the BEST chance at going for the medal without any obligations, worries and limitations to hold him back. This will bring these athletes at a level playing field with their urban counterparts and allow their innate edge to shine through.
Our focus is on starting early, with initial testing beginning at 8 years of age so that talent can be identified and honed at the most raw stage for quick progression.
